Little, Big and I were invited to an amazing summer solstice celebration with a group called, In Sacred Balance. A real mitzvah (joyful event), this was! The Mrs., she was invited too, but, becoming quite the macher (big deal), she was off on a photo shoot! (You can find her at willowandsage1 on IG – follow her!)
It was a gorgeous day to celebrate the sun and all of its glorious energy – the most powerful day of the year! These pigments are made from all natural materials from the earth. The boats are from the tree barkAn alter was built to honor all those lives tragically lost in Orlando at the Pulse nightclub – A brokkeh (blessing) for allmore of the alterBoat making is serious business – these boats made of bark will contain our blessingsMy handmade boat with two flowersPlace the first of your two flowers in the community boat, and send your hardships, feelings, anger, anything at all that you need to let go – the second flower is for our personal boat, and holds our blessings, bringing luck and love to those who find themWe all made our way over to the creek to release our boats, with the community boat guiding the pathAn image of our boats as they sailed downstreamHealing time – something we all need so desperatelyIt starts with one – healing hands begin in the tunnel over the creekAnd then we all join in, as many times as neededWe put our healing energy from the strongest parts of the sun, into healing our planetOur fearless keeper of the Sun – a haimisheh (down-to-earth) mensch (good person), our friend, L.And little R., who soaked it all inAfter the healing, we all walked back up the creek and had a nice nosh (we ate) together – a feast!Little R., wearing the events of the day and blowing bubbles
For us, it was the longest day. In other parts of the world, it was the shortest day. For me and my kinder (little girls) it was a beautiful, spiritual, healing day with friends, old and new.
Wow! I have to admit I’ve never celebrated the summer solstice but it looks such fun I might do so next year. Love your photos too – the colours are just beautiful. #stayclassymama
this is so inspirational and just a joy to see all these images of happiness and light. We are having Winter here in Australia, I love this so glad I got to read this post #FabFriday
Thank you so much for sharing this with my #mg link up, I loved this post the first time I read it and I am still loving it. Thank you for sending light my way too xx
It’s hard to find oneself in such a beautiful, natural setting for the solstice in NYC. At least we have Make Music New York (http://makemusicny.org/), which does community-based music events all over the city on the summer and winter solstices. I’d love a neighborhood creek though…
Wow! What a great community and what a great way to celebrate the summer solstice! I love the love boats and the handmade ink and hand prints. These are awesome! Wish I could take my children there to celebrate with you too! 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful memories with us on #FabFridayPost Xx
I have to say I’m very jealous, this looks like a great event! In our town nothing like this happens, but I’d love it to. We didn’t celebrate the solstice at all. In fact I’m sure it poured down with rain too. But I love what you guys did. Sarah #FabFridayPost
That looked like it was a whole lot of fun, for us here it was our shortest day. That means we are heading back to summer little by little, we love summer so you enjoy yours. Nice happy photos in your post.
How truly beautiful your celebration looks! This year here things didn’t go as usual, our usual Midsummer crew are off at a wedding for one of the members so it was a much quieter celebration. In the end a warm storm rolled in in the evening and we had an exciting thunder and lightening storm to watch and marvel at. Hope you are having an amazing start to your summer!
I have never heard of this celebration but I love the sound of it. It is so interesting and very meaningful. As humans, we need to let ourselves heal. I’m going to find out more about this. Thanks for sharing with #bigpinklink
Oh my gosh I love this so much! I feel like you have told a beautiful story with your photos. I love the alter and the boats, what an amazing event, I’m so glad you shared with us. Thank you for the inspiration and linking up with#StayClassyMama!
Wow, amazing! What an incredible event to be involved with and at the solstice too! The sun’s energies should never be underestimated. Love the idea of the healing hands. #mg
