My heart, it hurts, a lot.
Help me; I feel a bit discouraged today. I’m not my usual sunny self.
My kinder, Little and Big, are growing up in a culture that is so riddled in hate. And it is growing overwhelmingly, and at warp speeds.
Me, I’m out looking for the fairies tossing pixie dust, playing harps (really cool ones), planting trees and lighting the path to eternal sunshine, love, peace and happiness? Others, they put on vests voluntarily and enter crowded airports and tourist hot spots, or purchase firearms and forever change what safety means.
Such brokkh (disaster and misfortune) I refuse to get used to!
Hate, the worst of the four letter words, is learned and it spreads like a contagion.
I have a friend whose family came here to visit, leaving from the very same Turkish Airport that the terrorists blew up, less than 24 hours later. Someone was shot in our parking lot just a few weeks back, and just minutes before, he killed another human being.
I’m sorry, but moments of silence and prayer are bullshit not cutting it for me. I do not mean to offend those who believe, but there cannot be a God whose plan is that we strategically pick each other off the planet to see who wins; most often, one by one — and too often, en masse. Poo, poo, may they all rest in peace…
Why the hell can’t we find a way to all live in peace? Is that so farshlugineh (crazy, irrational, mixed up)?
Did we just throw away our moral compass?
How did the bar get so low?
This post is filled with questions that I do not have the answers to. What I do know is that:
- I’m all for gun control, background checks and mental health checks
- I don’t think my neighbor, or yours for that matter, should have the right to bear arms. I have shpilkes (panic) when I consider that he or she may – what if my shana madelahs (sweet little darling girls) are there for a play date?
- Color me crazy, but mental health is and should be valued as highly as physical health, whether you want a gun or not
- I think we all should feel safe going to school, the movies, a dance club, the airport, at work and anywhere else the fuck we want to go
- I think everyone should be able to pee without showing a birth certificate
- I want to love out loud, fearlessly
Do we have the chutzpah (balls, yes balls) to make change out of this unconscionable tsuris (troubled, mayhem) of a world?
Won’t you help me? Please? My kishkas (intestines) are in knots at the thought of us not joining together with empathy in our hearts. Don’t we all deserve so much better than this? For the kinder (children), we make it better?
Alevai (It should only happen)!
Das hartz hat mir gezoght (My heart told me) it would.

We are of a similar mind, I wrote a similar post last week. I have just about had all I can stand of all the battles and harsh words and pure hatred. And stupidity seems to be running rampant. I am writing about chasing unicorns next week…it is starting to look good! I will join you in hunting for fairies!

Such a thought provoking post – I agree, it’s hard to make sense of all this hatred that is in the world. My 12 year old stepson wants to know the answers as to why this happens, but like you I just don’t have the answers. Thank you for linking up with #stayclassymama

Thank you for hosting and reading. Maybe one by one, we can rid the hate. Strength in the power of words. Spread empathy. 😘 #stayclassy

Here here, well done for saying so, You’ve put into words wonderfully what I havent been able to and didn’t know where to start. I just keep thinking…Why?
I want to get back to not being panicky at the airport, cinema or group event. I want also to stand under fairy dust and smile and not worry about what people are doing to try and cause pain.

I’m in total agreement, it makes me shudder to think of what the world is turning into and how our children’s lives will be affected 😕 #FabFridayPost

Been writing much the same thing lately. Its amazing how much more these things seem to hurt after having children. The days of shrugging and just saying “people suck” no longer seems to be enough. Great post. We all need to do better for our children and it just doesn’t seem to be heading in that direction. #momsterlink

Very thought-provoking and deep. You’re right, there really is so much hate in this world, and I cannot understand why. My son is only 15 months old, and it pains me to think of the world he will grow up in. The only thing I can do is teach him to love, and hope that he will spread it. Thanks for sharing #FabFridayPost

I really do try to make the best out of this world, but sometimes it is so hard to avoid them, especially when my boy is watching something on tele and the war news pops up and the sad looking children charity ads pops up. It is so hard to explain the real word to him… But we do try our best. Thank you for linking up with us on #FabFridayPost x

As you say this violence is just so terrible. It certainly is hard to explain to our children. I guess in our own backyard we need to consider the violence in movies and computer games, they have to be an influence if that is what our minds feed on. I don’t like to blame God for the rotten things that humans do, although He did give humans a free will. But we would not all want to be controlled puppets which is the other end of having a free will. Let’s work together to be wise and spread good will.

I couldn’t agree more. Our world is in a sorry state and it seems to only be getting worse and more hate-filled. I feel blessed to have been born and raised within a family and community that is so unlike mass society these days. At the same time, it’s made it even more alarming to see the world crash and burn around me because people are so intolerant and judgmental.

The picture with all the color-striped flags is great, but also very sad. So many of us live our lives in world filled with hate against us. Sad.

It truly does seem like in this day and age it’s so much easier to hate then love. It’s like a generation completely got wired wrong. Children not being raised right and feeling like their only alternative is hate and violence. Retaliation. I can’t even watch the news anymore…it’s too depressing. And some days as much as I complain about my small boring town I’m actually glad I live here. Not that there isn’t crime but it isn’t on CNN regularly. Thanks for linking with #momsterslink.

And there’s more hate in the world today as Nice mourns the deaths of 84 people yesterday in another atrocity. Hate is the worst of the four letter words and causes so much devastation. I want my children to be safe and happy and tolerant and forgiving and respectful and inquisitive and caring. I don’t want them to feel scared or confused about the world we live in. I can’t imagine the mindset of someone who sets out to harm or kill another human being, how can you want that to be what you’re remembered for?
Your first pic is beautiful, by the way x
