The Problem with Pee-Gate

No matter who you are, or how you identify, please don’t leave the next person high and dry.

No matter who you are, or how you identify, please don’t leave the next person high and dry.

Let the record show that I have not been paid to write this piece, although truth is, that would be both helpful and nice. I am not a political reporter or a journalist. I am, however, one very outraged Yiddisheh momma who cannot just sit idly by while mr t and his alt-right, uber-conservative (pun intended) regime of discriminating desperado’s, steal away the basic rights and needs of transgendered students in this country, who’s only crime is that they want to pee safely. Yes, this is about peeing. Whether you sit, stand, hover-over, wipe or shake it off, we are in the midst of Pee-Gate. Who knew such tsuris (troubles) would plague us…

Pee-Gate is about ignorance fear, stupidity lack of knowledge, the lawlessness inequity of separate but not equal, bigotry, closed-mindedness, insecurity and what can very easily become an unnecessary increase in violence against, and suicide rates amongst, the LGBTQ community.

My President Obama, he banished the bathroom backlash by bestowing Title IX in the way it was created as law:

Title IX is a landmark federal civil right that prohibits sex discrimination in education. Title IX is not just about sports; it is a prohibition against sex-based discrimination in education. It addresses discrimination against pregnant and parenting students and women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs. It also addresses sexual harassment, gender-based discrimination, and sexual violence. Sexual violence includes attempted or completed rape or sexual assault, as well as sexual harassment, stalking, voyeurism, exhibitionism, verbal or physical sexuality-based threats or abuse, and intimate partner violence.

(this is straight from the website, knowyourix.com)

My Barack, he said, let the transgendered kids use the bathroom of their choice. He didn’t do this because he was a nice guy (he is) or wanted to make trouble (he didn’t). He said this because he knew we already have a Federal Law on the books. Unlike mr t, Barack knows the law and the rights created in the Constitution. C’mon people, Tricky-Dick Nixon made Title IX a law back in 1972! That was 45 years ago, and Nixon!

Now for the outrage. This divisive and discriminating act of hatred and bullying towards the transgendered community in our educational system is based on the idiocracy that all transgendered youth (and grown ups too) in our country are perverse and have deviant motives when they need to pass water. This very small-minded thinking from the highest office in the land only boosts bullying and hatred to the most malevolent and malignant levels. mr t’s reversal is his first real attempt to hold true, his campaign claims against the entire LGBTQ community. It is an outright attack and I will not stand by and watch.

Milania, if you are truly standing tall against bullying as first Lady, then please leave your golden penthouse now and get the hell up and shout! Your husband is the biggest, baddest, bully in the bunch. Step down from your trophy wife status and stop him. You are a mom for christ sake. How can you let him attack our nation’s children this way? Put aside his misogynistic treatment of both you and Ivanka, the daughter-wife-in-chief, and start championing your cause. The kinder (children) need you.

The school that my Big and Little attend have non-marked bathrooms because you know what, we all gotta go. There are no issues as diverse students, teachers, staff, and caregivers all pee proudly and safely.

Please, join the resistance against this very dangerous policy by mr t. Join with positivity and hope as we demonstrate to the world leaders that our children’s lives are on the line. Protest peacefully, make calls, write letters, sign petitions, and send emails. You don’t mess with our kinder (children), mr t.

We are supposed to leave the world a better place than when we entered it. mr t, I say to you:

A fool goes twice where a sensible person doesn’t even go once. A nar geyt tsvey mol dort vu a kliger geyt nit keyn eyntsik mol.

In your case, many more times than twice. Oy vey!

L’Chiam! To Life!

  1. Having not read up on why this law would be changed and affected I am not fully informed on it but I can understand why a change would be very concerning and worrying for all concerned. Not just the law itself but what the change it represents is scary. Well done on voicing your concerns on something that you obviously feel strongly about; it is refreshing to read a post from someone who is not afraid to use their blog to express an opinion and create change. Dave 🙂

  2. BRAVO! Thank you for posting on this! I cannot believe how this administration seems determined to go after the most vulnerable among us – and horrified at their confidence that we’ll all just let it happen. I’d love if you’d come share this with Awesome Life Friday. Have a great weekend!

    1. Right! A million years ago, my father actually said that Dr. Renee Richards, probably the first outed transgender woman who had the surgery and everything, changed her gender so she can win tennis tournaments. People can be so very ignorant! Thanks Jeremy, Have a great weekend.

  3. Since becoming a mom public bathroom in general seem to me to be of outdated design. I love the concept of a family bathroom where everyone is welcome. That way my husband and I can work together at those on the go diaper changes. Otherwise he’s stuck waiting at the door with my purse while I juggle a baby and a diaper bag.

What do these close minded people believe happens in public bathrooms anyway? To the best of my knowledge, bathrooms have stalls and nobody struts around in the nude. And how would we go about enforcing any of these bathroom laws? Will there be someone at the door checking birth certificates for what parts someone was born with? The whole issue seems needlessly complicated to me. Make them all family bathrooms and call it a day. #FabFridayPost

    1. Family bathrooms are wonderful until our government starts defining ‘family’ based on arcane, religious values. How about just simply, bathrooms. Everyone knows that everybody poos and everybody pees. Europe doesn’t seem to have any problems with this concept. Oy. Thanks so much for commenting! #FabFridayPost xoxo

      1. Just bathrooms would work too. But the “family” bathrooms that I’ve seen are just bathrooms for everyone. There is usually some sort of depiction of a man, woman, child, and person in a wheelchair on the door. It’s not like only full families are allowed to use them. Any singular person can go in as well. Or any combination of people. #GlobalBlogging

I mean c’mon, we all gotta go. That is an inclusive act, not divisive. Thank you for joining us at #globalblogging and for your comments too! M’wah to yoU!

  5. I can’t believe how utterly ridiculous some of the proposed changes coming out of the the USA are. We can only hope that there are some checks and balances. I feel for every US citizen right now, I really do, and I hope the stupidity and influence does not affect your great nation, and its influence on International Politics, too much #globalblogging

  6. Gosh, how many transgendered folks do you know who are sexual predators?!? As for me, I don’t know a soul. I truly don’t get how this most natural thing (peeing and pooping in a bathroom with other people of the same gender, whether born with the “right parts” or not) has ever become such a big f-ing deal? #globalblogging

  8. It’s just incredible that just when we think we’ve come so far, it seems that because of some ignorant world leader (( know, those words shouldn’t really go together, ever) the world is in danger of going backwards. People should have freedom of choice and pee where they feel comfortable peeing. #globalblogging

  9. I think that he chose his wife and daughter to support him based solely on the fact that he can control and manipulate them in totality! It’s scary, but woman in their positions don’t even see it because they are that controlled by the controller that they are blind to it.
As long as everyone in the unisex bathroom is afforded privacy, there should be no issue! It should be a non-event. Really! Every human on the planet uses the bathroom.

  11. One of the clubs I went to back in the day has unisex bathrooms – urinals on side and toilets on the other. It was brilliant – space saving and no one felt awkward. When you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go. It’s like seeing years of good stuff undone at a pen stroke. So depressing.

  12. It’s frustrating when progress gets turned over and we have to fight again for what already was won. It makes no sense why this would be overturned. At the school in which I taught, we had an openly transgender student, and she was allowed to use a private teacher’s bathroom. This was well before it was a topic of law. Making sure our students are comfortable and safe is the nation’s job, as well as all of ours. Thanks for sharing! #FridayFrivolity

    1. It is so comforting to hear from people, such as yourself, who understand this is about the health and safety of the children. If this stays in place, separate is not equal. Depression and suicide rates go up. Senseless. Like Winnie the Pooh, just be. And in this case, just pee. Thanks Patricia! #FridayFrivolity xoxoxo

    1. I wish this was fake news, but it is very real. The LGBTQ community has been on mr t’s attack list from the onset, and Peeing was the first strike. He wants to overturn gay marriage (equality which we only recently celebrated victory in), stop gay adoption. He’s not a nice guy and has a heavy-handed agenda against those not like him. My family and I are scared, and rightfully so. Thanks, Meagan, and please, this is an explanation point time in our history!!!!!! #stayclassymama !!!!

  18. This makes me so sad. Surely its everyone’s basic right to be able to use the bathrooms. And, if the bathrooms deemed male and female, the right (without judgement) to pop along to their most appropriate one. I mean, what would happen if we started segregating by hair colour. Oh.. sorry, btw gingers over that way please. It’s utterly ridiculous. Thanks so much for sharing with the #dreamteam x
