…on many sides

Charlottesville. Trying to make sense out of a living nightmare is not possible. I am for free speech and civil disobedience, and that has not happened. mrt has been fanning the flames of racism, hate, and evil since his campaign that led to his election began. He has openly uncovered what lay hidden, dormant. He has ripened the corrupt causes of the neo-Nazi’s, the alt-right, the white supremacists, the Ku-Klux-Klan, and the racists who see “Make America Great Again” as a call to action for their heinous behaviors. They backed him, paid him, elected him, celebrated with him and see him as their leader. And mrt, he has mainstreamed these groups to normalcy; normal enough to come outside by daylight. To remove the sheets and show their faces. To act on their mission.

The “Unite the Right” rally, filled with racist, ethnic, misogynistic and anti-Semitic slurs,  turned deadly when a known Nazi-sympathizer from Ohio drove his Dodge Challenger, at a high-speed, into a crowd of people gathering to protest the rally. He killed Heather Heyer and injured close to twenty others. Heather, 32 years old, died standing up for what she believed in — fairness and equal treatment for all. She died opposing those that hold hate in their hearts. Additionally, two Virginia state troopers died in a helicopter crash while on duty. Three lives lost, and mrt stood in his bunker.

mrt, our tweeter-in-chief, said in his first statement, that he condemned hatred and violence “on many sides, on many sides.” ON MANY SIDES? ON MANY SIDESWTF

Many sides? I saw two sides. The white supremacy, in their full militant nationalistic glory, and the oppositionists, who came with peace and equality, to counter the hate.

Weak. Very weak mrt. You are a spineless excuse for a leader. You made no mention of your friends who gathered in violence, and they heard that loud and clear. They cheered you on. They know you support them. You have never been quiet to call out your enemies by name. They must be your friends. Two days later, after an immense public outcry, you were forced into a more acceptable media message, only after mentioning how well the stock market is doing. Your responses sicken me, as much as the despicable events of the weekend.

I applaud leaders like German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who teaches us all how we can never go back. She owns the shame of the Nazi Holocaust and apologized some 60 years later, after WW II. Today, in Germany, every child is taught of the atrocities that their native land carried out during Holocaust. Every student visits a concentration camp. They learn what was in their history and they work hard so that such vile behavior will never repeat.

mrt keeps his alt-right friends, Bannon, Gorka, Miller, close to the chest, in his inner circle. It shows.

I am a human being. I am Jewish. I am a woman. I am a Lesbian. I am a wife. I am a mother. I am saddened but remain positive that the turning point that KKK leader David Duke speaks of, has a very different outcome. I will continue to stand up strong, united against hate, in order to make this world a better place for my kinder (children).

mrt, you are #notmypresident. #yesyouareracist #neveragain

  1. Disgusting is what he is! I am at a loss of words, I feel so sad right now that this can be the world we live in, that America being such a powerful country can allow a man like that to even be nerd, let alone be a leader. #mg

    1. I am nauseous and having trouble not crying all the time. Hard with kids and a job! I just learned that his father, Fred Drumpf, was arrested at a 1928 KKK rally. He was hooded. I am at a loss.

  2. I live in Australia and following this on the news and I feel terrible that people think like this in 2017. I’m a mother, a black woman, a muslim so personally I wouldn’t feel welcome to visit USA during Trump’s term and I wouldn’t feel comfortable either.

  3. It breaks my heart to see these things on the news and know that people, friends like yourself are having to deal with Trump and the evil he has ignited. The rest of the world sees him for what he is, I only hope it isnt too much longer before his own party see they have to get rid of him.

  4. I wish I had some words of wisdom or comfort but I have nothing. The world has been saddled with a hideous person to lead them and sadly he is bringing out the worst kinds of people and giving them a voice, a platform, a sense of righteousness where none, none is deserved. It scares me if I’m honest. #stayclassymama

  5. I have no words, because in truth the progress that I thought the world had made after the 60’s and in some countries later was actually masked and has now been unmasked. Plus there is so much more to do and we are going backwards. Everything, everything and everywhere is now at a turning point and the ideology of what you thought was the few is now the many. Enough to put governments in power that can put prejudice laws in place. There’s work to do, the world needs to find a leader or hero and every action no matter how small needs to fight the tide but right now we need big action that put our countries leaderships back in loving hands. #brillblogposts

  6. What an incredibly well written and poignant post. I’ve watched the fall out of the events from Charlotteville on Twitter and have been utterly horrified at how the far right have carried themselves, the things they have said. It just beggars belief. Thanks for linking up to #GlobalBlogging

  7. I’ve been watching this on CNN closely and I am baffled to how he thinks this is on many sides. What the hell is wrong with him?! Really! Please be careful out there Lisa. It doesn’t sound very safe. Always carry a pepper spray with you. No joke! Big Love from us all. xxx

  8. I don’t know enough about Antifa to say if there are any bad apples there, I’d assume there are, just like with BLM and any large group. What really pissed me off was saying that there were “very fine people on each side.” No. Even if for some reason somebody showed up to protest the statue removal for historical reasons or whatever, once you take a look at who is lining up with you, you get the hell out of there. #fridayfrolics

  9. I’m all for free speech but the fact that these hate filled rally’s still happen seriously baffles me and the fact that the ‘so-called’ president doesn’t condemn them just makes them even more likely to keep happening and grow in number. It’s like travelling back in time.

  11. I actually am at a loss as to how many times I have felt sorry for your country. I am amazed how he is still in power and even more amazed how his aids allow him to have access to his twitter account to spread such vile garbage.
Fingers crossed something is done sooner rather than later! #ablogginggoodtime

  12. I had taken a few days away from the news, simply because I have been so busy of late. I knew something was going down and so looked into it further and was shocked to the core when I read all about this. It is worrying and quite unvelieveable that in this day and age, after all the years we, as nations have fought for equality of all types, that someone like this has so much power. I hope it won’t last. Surely it can’t?! Thanks for joining in with #TriumphantTales, hope to see you again Tuesday.

  14. It is so scary and so sad that a man like that is somehow in charge of one of the world’s most powerful countries. For all the bad people there are in the world though there are always more people trying to do the right thing.xx #BLogCrush

    1. Thanks so much, Wendy. We have to do something about this crazed excuse of a leader. I am horrified to be American right now. #BlogCrush xoxo
