Cake, ice cream, pizza, and mac-and-cheese has been the menu of late. It’s been a birthday party bonanza around here, with my little party divas. I am one lucky momma getting to attend as well as escort my maidelehs (little, sweet girls). Such fun!
I think we played about 43 holes, sans any attempt at golfer know-how and etiquette. If it weren’t for cuteness, it could have been a real problem.
If you’re going to do something wrong, enjoy it. Az me est chazzer, zol rinnen fun bord.
Okay, so my inner Lorax is showing again. This time, I’m sharing my very favorite tree stump. My muses, they are still away on holiday and Gatsby and I are busy, meandering all over the place in an effort to keep him exercised while I’m at work, and me free from worry (huh!) while I am away from him. Where I really wish we were walking is out on the trails of our sort of, back yard, the Wissahickon.
On this particular trail, no matter the season, the kinder (children) have to jump on the stump and imagine, explore and pretend. It never gets old for them or for me. Photo ops abound. Well, okay, I admit, I too would enjoy a climb on, or even through this beauty. For me, stumpy here epitomizes all the good parts of childhood. Stumpy brings up images of bright red radio flyers, flowered banana seat bikes with multi-colored streamers, Keds sneakers and, skimming stones in the creek.
I can even taste the stale gum that comes with the pack of baseball cards. Do you hear the ice cream truck, or is it just me? This stump, it may just be the very best stump in all of the world. And we have it, right here, in our sort of, very big, backyard park. Nothing to kvetch (whine) about here.
Imagine the pure joy of being two littles, running free in an ice cream store, scoop in hand… and you can understand how my kinder (children) felt on a trip to beautiful, downtown Cape May, NJ.
If any of you are seeking a nice nosh (little something to eat) in the form of delectable ice cream desserts, milkshakes, freshly made Belgian waffles, and incredible, original sundae concoctions, this shop, Fine Fellows Creamery is your destination at the Jersey shore. Stocked with Bassett’s Original ice cream, vey iz mir (OMG), this is good stuff, they are fast becoming the local destination for all shore points.
Owned by two mensches (really, truly good men, or in this case, Fine Fellows) who are uncles to my shanamaidelahs(sweet girls), and their boychik (wonderful son) J, these guys know how to make a dessert, and they will treat you like kings and queens. Shy with the scoop, not these guys! You may need to open your belt buckle a notch or two when you down every spoonful of bliss.
C’mon down to Cape May. Ooh and ahh over the quaint architecture, walk the beaches, stroll the boardwalk, smell the salty air, and ess a bissel (eat a little) at Fine Fellows Creamery.
So I’m sure you’re thinking, well, they are family, of course, you will write a good review. Friends, listen loud and clear. There is a cardinal rule we all must follow in order to get along: You don’t mess with Ice Cream. That would be a shonda (shame) to lead you astray in any way gastronomically, especially when it comes to all things ice cream related.
So tomorrow, go have your kale chip and avocado smoothie. Today, go and eat ice cream at Fine Fellows Creamery. Oh, how happy you will be!
